Automatically Creating a Puzzle¶

Crossword Studio enables you to generate puzzles from custom word lists by following an automated wizard process.

Step-by-Step Instructions¶

Step 1: Basic Setup¶

Provide the following information:

• Puzzle title - Name your puzzle
• Puzzle type - Choose Crossword or Word Search
• Language - Select your preferred language

Step 2: Word Input¶

Enter the words that will appear in the puzzle.

Import option: You can import words from CSV files instead of typing them manually.

Step 3: Configuration Options¶

Configure generation settings based on your puzzle type:

For Crosswords: Set the maximum size the grid can take. Larger grids will accommodate more words but be less compact.

For Word Searches: Configure grid dimensions and specify directional parameters for word placement (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, etc.).

Step 4: Build Process¶

The system generates the puzzle layout.

Tip: Extended build time enables the software to identify superior grid arrangements with increased word intersections and more compact dimensions.

Step 5: Grid Selection¶

The application presents multiple generated options. Review the options and select your preferred grid, then click publish.

Step 6: Adding Clues¶

For crosswords, you'll need to add clues for each word:

1. Access the Clues toolbar button in the publish window
2. Add clues manually for each word, or
3. Import clues via CSV file
